In 2010 the Alan Sillitoe Memorial Committee was formed to raise funds to promote the writer’s literary work and create a bronze statue in Nottingham’s Market Square.

The aim is to perpetuate Alan’s memory in his beloved Nottingham by erecting a statue in the place he returned to time and time again in his writing. 

The Alan Sillitoe Memorial Statue will form the starting point of a trail around the city, taking in the places and landmarks enshrined in his books.
